The Austin City Council recently voted to pass the HOME (Home Options for Middle-Income Empowerment) initiative.  This initiative provides on-site housing options to family members, caregivers or those looking to earn additional income.  The initiative states that up to three housing units* can be added to a single family lot. This includes tiny homes, ADUs (Accessory Dwelling Units), etc.

*Please note that HOA or other zoning/deed restrictions may apply for your particular neighborhood or plot of land.

What Does This Mean for You?

Do you need your mother-in-law or an aging parent to move into a tiny home on your lot? Do you have kids who are finding it very difficult to rent or buy a house in this market? If your zoning laws allow, Skelly Build can connect you with the right architect for your plans and complete the construction of additional units on your lot for you!

Don’t miss out! This initiative will be fully operational in the City of Austin very soon, so make sure to act now to get on Skelly’s 2024 construction calendar!
