Architect: Clayton Korte       Construction: Skelly Build

A recent commercial project we are proud of is our work at #SkellyZoeTong. After purchasing the restaurant, our clients wanted to give the space their own look and feel.  However, time IS money in the restaurant business, so the owners wanted to complete the reno on as short a timeline as possible.

Skelly got right to work executing the architectural plans of Clayton Korte and getting construction underway!

Up first came demolition, including a window area and server station, plus framing in a re-slope/re-patch of the roof to solve a previous drainage issue. Consistent drywall texturing throughout plus the installation of six new sinks & faucets made a significant change in the beauty and functionality of the space. In other areas, old materials were updated or replaced, such as the installation of new 3 ton HVAC units, new ceiling tiles, new window glass, and new service doors. Two coats of paint throughout freshened up the outdated look of the restaurant. It’s amazing what fresh paint can do to transform a space!

When designing a commercial space, both functionality and beauty have to be addressed. One of the biggest challenges of this project was how to handle the layout and installation of the curved service bar. The face was straight set and the top was offset to keep full tiles, otherwise the curve of the bar would have made the tiles smaller and smaller as the tile progressed towards the back of the bar. Our amazing Skelly subs were able to overcome the spacial challenges and execute the design plan to perfection. Way to go team!

In addition, we fabricated, stained and installed a custom shelving/cabinetry unit plus Airy Concrete Caesarstone countertops at the service bar. For additional storage, we fabricated and installed metal shelving units the entire length of the wall behind the bar. New Urethan Cement floors in the bar and kitchen areas give a modern feel to the space and are also carried through into both the men’s and women’s bathrooms. In addition to new cement floors, the bathrooms received new paint, countertops and sinks, and wainscoting on the walls. To finish off this project, the exterior received a new level of exterior primer and fresh paint, fresh landscaping and new exterior materials to enjoy the outdoor experience at Zoe Tong.

Finally, to celebrate the completion of this project, Skelly Build hosted a happy hour at Zoe Tong that allowed all of our staff and partners in architecture to try the delicious food and ambiance in this brand new space.

Our final conclusion? Delicious food coupled with amazing ambiance means we will definitely be going back to Zoe Tong on the regular!
