Tucked away in the beautiful Hyde Park neighborhood of Austin is a historic home with a 200+ year old live oak standing on the property. Our homeowners wanted to lighten and brighten the bathrooms & laundry room in a gorgeous Moroccan style, turning this historic home into a Mediterranean Marvel!
Master Bath
First up was the transformative master bath reno. First, we demoed just about everything in this bathroom, including the toilet, existing double vanity, upper cabinet and shelf, crown molding, shower fixtures & bench, all flooring and wall tile, etc! All new plumbing and electrical fixtures then had to be set in place for the build. Next came the framing for the gorgeous Moroccan style shower opening, already giving this bathroom such an updated look! Multi-functional shower heads, body sprayers, a new skylight, new custom shower niches and floor to ceiling Calacatta tile complete this beautiful shower.
After taping, floating and painting the new drywall in the bathroom, next came time to install the new wall tile. This gorgeous tile from Clay Imports extends from floor to ceiling. First we started with a glazed thin forest colored tile below the border and then switched to a glossy white glazed terracotta tile above the border. The lovely border tile is a black and white custom pattern made by Tiles of Ezra. This tile work instantly lended a beautiful, clean Mediterranean feel to the entire space. The main floor and shower floor tile were finished out with a ProSource black and white marble basketweave mosaic tile.
A new custom made floating double vanity with Carrera countertops, gorgeous new patterned sinks, all new brass fixtures, new black vanity mirrors and gorgeous Visual Comfort vanity lights completed the look!
Utility Room/Half Bath
The utility room was also completely demoed except for the existing door, window and floor drain. New drywall and plumbing rough-ins were installed, as well as new flooring and wall tile. The flooring is the same basketweave mosaic as the master bathroom, and the wall tile is a 4” Architerra tile with a Watercolor Glaze. This striking tile adds such visual appeal to this laundry room, adding just the right accent on the cabinetry wall, the vanity wall, and the toilet wall of this half bathroom. The white oak vanity in this half bath space contrasts perfectly with the dark tones of the new wall tile. In the laundry area, new paint grade cabinetry with some floating white oak shelving was added for additional storage, and gorgeous Carrera countertops complete this Mediterranean laundry room look!
In another bathroom remodel, tile work literally set out to be the star of the show! We installed amazing Ann Sacks tile as a feature wall of this bathroom. The rich Indigo and Milk Star Hex tile makes a fun and playful statement all the way to the ceiling of this beautiful new space. The tub surround got the same Clay Imports Glossy White Glazed Terracotta tile as the master bath, and we finished off the tile work with a 1” Hex in Matte White for the flooring! A new vanity with Carrera countertops (including an additional ledge above the toilet area), a Moroccan style sink, a beautiful brass mirror and fixtures finished off this space.
Girl’s Double Bathroom
In the girls bathroom, we demoed the single pedestal sink and then framed for a floating double vanity, so each girl could have a sink. The toilet was moved to a new location and a new freestanding bathtub with a rain shower head was installed. New Carrera wall tile was installed up to 3 feet around the entire bathroom. The white tile contrast beautifully with the brand new Clay Imports Noir Black floor tile, which adds pattern and whimsy to this bathroom space. New mirrors, hardware and electrical fixtures finished off this peaceful bathroom retreat!
With newly remodeled bathrooms and a gorgeous new utility space, this historic Hyde Park Home is now a Modern Mediterranean Marvel, truly a one of a kind masterpiece in Austin, Texas.
