Skelly Build recently completed an extensive renovation at Briarpatch Home in Austin, Texas. Our team transformed nearly every corner of the property, creating a modern and luxurious space while preserving its unique character. From a breathtaking kitchen remodel to revitalized spa-like bathrooms and more, here’s how Skelly Build brought our client’s vision to life.
Kitchen Remodel: Where Function Meets Elegance
We started this project with a full demolition and complete reimagination of the heart of the home: the kitchen area. Our team removed all cabinetry, countertops, and backsplash, as well as architectural features like soffits, corbels, and a stone wall surrounding the vent hood. Key updates included:
- Custom Cabinetry: We crafted flat-panel, full-overlay oak cabinets with functional features like spice pullouts, cutting board dividers, and trash can pullouts.
- Lighting Upgrades: We re-centered pendant lights above the island and installed four new pendants and two breakfast nook lights. Under-cabinet and upper-cabinet lighting added a sophisticated glow.
- Plumbing and Electrical Overhauls: We reworked plumbing connections for modern appliances and upgraded electrical systems for improved functionality.
- Sloped Plaster Hood: We designed and installed a modern plaster hood, serving as the kitchen’s visual centerpiece.
- Countertops and Backsplash: Sleek stone countertops and backsplash completed the elegant kitchen design.
Bathrooms: A Spa-Like Experience at Home
Primary Bathroom: A Luxurious Retreat
The primary bathroom was reimagined as a sanctuary for relaxation. Highlights of this renovation included:
- Custom Vanities: Shaker-style vanities with a center linen tower provided ample storage.
- Shower Build-Out: The new shower featured a rain head, handheld fixtures, and a custom niche, surrounded by beautifully installed tile.
- Elegant Countertops: Fabricated with precision, these countertops complemented the bathroom’s sophisticated aesthetic.
- Enhanced Plumbing and Lighting: Relocated plumbing and new lighting installations ensured functionality matched the room’s visual appeal.
In the powder bathroom, the team optimized space while maintaining charm. Updates included new wall tiles, vanities, lighting and plumbing enhancements. Both guest bathrooms also received thoughtful upgrades, including new countertops and painted vanities, tile flooring and new baseboards, and plumbing and electrical updates for modern fixtures. Every bathroom in this modern retreat has now been upgraded for a restful, spa-like experience!
Bar Area: Entertainment Ready
One of the most notable changes to this home is the bar and living room areas. The bar area received fresh touch ups such as:
- Custom Countertops: A 6-inch mitered bar countertop added a luxurious touch.
- Floating Shelf Installation: A sleek floating shelf brought a modern flair.
- Sprayed Cabinetry: Existing cabinets were refreshed with a new finish, perfectly complementing the updated space.
- Stone Surround: The existing stone was replaced with a plaster finish, adding texture and warmth. We used a technique called “slurried stone” to give all of stone walls in this home a modern face lift.
Living Room: A Cozy Gathering Space
The living room’s fireplace became the centerpiece of its transformation. In addition a relocated outlet improved the TV placement, fresh paint covered walls, ceilings, baseboards, and doors, revitalizing every corner, existing floors were sanded and stained for a flawless finish, and screwless faceplates and strategically placed light fixtures added contemporary electrical touches.
