From the start, the goal for our Spanish Oaks Residence renovation was clear: lean into modern Mediterranean vibes, layer in natural tones and crystals, and create a home that feels like organic luxury without taking itself too seriously. And, as serious University of Texas fans, the more burnt orange hues that were incorporated into the design, the better!

This was a true whole-home transformation, touching nearly every room and surface of this impressive Spanish Oaks house. The design direction focused on warm, tactile materials, like stone, clay, wood, and metal, that were paired with a restrained but confident color palette. Wide-plank European white oak floors from Legno Bastone run throughout the main living spaces, creating continuity and warmth, while custom millwork in layered tones of Crisp Linen, Inchyra Blue, and Black Magic brings depth and character to each room.

At the heart of the home is the kitchen, where our in-house custom millwork shop, Skelly Built, played a major role. Every cabinet was designed, built, and finished by our team, allowing the layout, proportions, and detailing to be fully tailored to the homeowners’ lifestyle. Floor-to-ceiling pantry walls, integrated appliance panels, and reeded island detailing give the space almost a furniture-like, architectural quality. The perimeter is wrapped in Taj Mahal quartzite with a soft leathered finish, while the island features Crystallo Ondulato quartzite,  a material which was hand-selected by the homeowner for its exquisite beauty and quality.

Just off the kitchen, the bar and dining room features custom-built cabinetry and concealed storage, also crafted in-house, designed to function as both a serving station and a design moment. The millwork provides ample storage for entertaining essentials while keeping the space visually clean and intentional.

The staircase became a major architectural feature of the renovation. The risers are finished in custom Saltillo terracotta tile, adding texture and subtle pattern, while updated railings and finishes tie the vertical circulation seamlessly into the home’s Mediterranean aesthetic. Flooring transitions throughout the house were carefully considered, balancing stone and wood for both durability and warmth. A fun powder bathroom on the main level also adds warmth and charm through the creative use of  wallpaper, custom cabinetry, tile and wood.

Upstairs, we reworked secondary bedrooms and living spaces with new flooring, lighting, and custom storage solutions, creating rooms that feel elevated but livable. Built-ins, closets, and niche cabinetry throughout the home were fabricated by our millwork team, ensuring consistent quality and detailing across every space. Guest and secondary bathrooms carry the same design language, featuring zellige tile, layered stone selections, and warm metallic fixtures that reinforce the home’s cohesive, Mediterranean-inspired palette.

The primary suite was designed as a true retreat. The primary bathroom continues the Med spa narrative, with floors and shower finished in custom Saltillo terracotta tile laid in a Riviera pattern, paired with honed Essential Gray marble on the walls and vanities. Wall-mounted Brizo faucets in luxe gold, an oversized walk-in shower with a 42-inch linear drain, and sculptural Arteriors pendant lighting create a space that feels more like a boutique hotel than a residential bathroom!

Directly off the primary bathroom is the custom sauna, forming a private wellness zone within the homeowner’s suite. Warm wood interiors, moody lighting, and minimalist detailing create a grounding, restorative environment—an intentional extension of the spa experience.

From alabaster sconces and sculptural lighting to champagne and brass plumbing fixtures, every selection was intentional. Spanish Oaks Residence is a perfect example of what happens when a space is personally crafted to meet the personality and lifestyle needs of its owner.  This renovation is elevated but relaxed, luxurious but not pretentious—and completely tailored to the people who call it home.
