Big dreams deserve big builds—and the custom home rising on Big View Drive is no exception. This 7,000 square foot, two-story modern residence is an architectural showstopper in the making, meticulously crafted from the ground up by the team at Skelly Build in collaboration with Ken Smith Architecture and Etch Design Group.
Let’s take a peek at the scale of the project and check in on our progress with this stunning new build!
The Vision
This home is rooted in thoughtfully engineered plans and high-end design, complete with state-of-the-art systems and sleek finishes. The plans call for features like:
-
Custom cabinetry throughout—including the kitchen, pantry, master closet, laundry, baths, and office built-ins.
-
Premium materials from top to bottom: hardwood floors, extensive tile work, stone and hardiplank siding, and a TPO roof.
-
Modern comforts like a home elevator, gym flooring, and a masonry fireplace with floor-to-ceiling Dekton surround.
-
High-efficiency HVAC, new plumbing and electrical systems, and a full AV setup including coax, CAT5, and OnQ panel integration.
The Scope So Far
To bring this dream home to life, we have covered some serious ground already:
-
Permitting & Preparation: From COA permitting to tree protection, air design testing, and a custom sprinkler system, we have already prepped the site for long-term success.
-
Foundation & Framing: We’ve poured a massive engineered foundation and installed wood and steel framing for both the main home and new garage.
-
Rough MEPs: Plumbing and HVAC rough-ins are complete. Electrical is actively in progress, including planning for future EV chargers, smart home systems, and more.
Where We Are Now
Progress continues at a brisk pace, with multiple trades onsite and key decisions in motion:
-
Electrical Rough-In: Electricians are actively onsite progressing through rough electrical work. Locations for secondary interior panels have been finalized, and communication with the team is ongoing to ensure smooth coordination.
-
AV Install: The AV contractor is continuing all low-voltage work, including media and Wi-Fi systems throughout the home.
-
Interior Doors: The door supplier has measured all interior openings and is working through final questions, with adjustments pending for a few locations.
-
Ramp Prep & Lift Access: The site crew has prepped for installation of a temporary ramp to allow for lift delivery and interior access.
-
Sprinkler System: The fire sprinkler subcontractor is scheduled to begin installation later this week.
-
Waterproofing Review: A waterproofing specialist and the design team are currently reviewing plans for the upper exterior patio. This meeting is essential for finalizing our waterproofing strategy for the home.
-
Design Coordination: Our amazing project manager has been in close contact with the interior designer and other trade partners to sort through decisions related to plumbing, electrical, doors, hardware, and drywall. These collaborative meetings ensure the project is aligned across all trades!
-
Plumbing: The plumbing team is currently on hold while remaining fixture and layout decisions are finalized. Once those selections are resolved, we will be able to complete the plumbing rough-ins.
What’s Coming Up Next?
Looking ahead, we will be:
-
Completing ramp installation and lift delivery
-
Starting fire sprinkler system install
-
Finalizing waterproofing plans for the upper patio
-
Gathering remaining selections and specs for plumbing fixtures
-
Continued electrical and AV progress
-
Coordinating interior door changes
-
Advancing toward insulation, drywall, and cabinetry installation
